5 Fun Ways to Boost Weight Loss (and No, Diet & Exercise Are Not on the List)

Ever been on a weight loss plan and it worked great for awhile, but then you got bored with the same old routine day after day?  I have!  So I came up with 5 easy tips that may inject a little fun into your program.

  1. Infuse Your Water
Drinking an adequate amount of water aids in weight loss, not only by making you feel full, but by burning more calories than you take in.  Studies have also shown that it increases metabolism.  But even though we know how good it is for us, sometimes it’s hard to get the recommended amount of water per day.  Infusing your water with fruits and herbs is a great way to add some flavor without many calories.  I like to add lemon, cucumber, mint and strawberries.  Not only does it taste good, but it looks pretty too.  You can get those nice, big, glass dispensers almost anywhere, and they also make water bottles with infusers.
  2. Make Your Meals a Ritual
When we are mindful and focus on enjoying our meals, we tend to eat slower, allowing our food to digest, and often leads to eating less.  We are more able to listen to our body, and tune into what it is telling us it needs for nutrition.  It disrupts unhealthy patterns due to stress or other types of emotional eating.  It allows a nice break where we can add beauty and gratitude in our day.
  3. Eat Healthy Foods Like Fruits and Vegetables First
Iʻve heard of people drinking a glass of water before their meal to feel more full, but I believe that drinking water with your meal should be avoided as it disrupts digestion.  To fill myself up on healthier choices, I do eat some fruit first for breakfast or a salad or vegetables first for lunch or dinner.  There are also enzymes in fresh fruit and vegetables that help digestion and absorption of nutrients.
  4. Find a Buddy
It is so much easier to stay on track when you are accountable to someone else.  Ideally, we should be able to make promises to ourselves and keep them, but unfortunately, thatʻs the first person we ignore many times.  Iʻve wanted to skip working out before, but because I gave someone my word I would be there, I was there.  Plus itʻs a lot more fun and having someone to support and motivate you definitely helps.
  5. Enjoy a Nice Cup of Cacao
We talked about eating mindfully, which helps us keep a check on our emotional binging.  I also like to drink a cup of cacao every day.  Cacao contains a mood enhancer that helps me to de-stress and manage my cravings.  It provides a healthy dose of antioxidants and also aids digestion.  Actually, anything that slows you down and cuts down your stress will aid digestion I think.  Cacao is a superfood, and it tastes good!  Make sure to get a high quality brand…of course I drink only Tavala Bru, it is by far the best!

Doing the same thing for any length of time can become dull.  Hope these tips help in some way or may inspire other ideas that will keep you motivated and on the path to better health and fitness <3
